Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. It is a strato-volcano located on the border of Tanzania and Kenya. Towering more than 19,000 feet, it is renowned for its biological diversity and expansive structure. Mount Kili, as it’s more colloquially called, is also known for its marked loss of snow cap due to global climate change, which has greatly diminished and will, within a couple decades, vanish altogether.
Climbing the mountain is no easy endeavor. It takes between 6 and 7 days, and each new day characterized by thinner air and increasingly frigid temperatures. However, with proper training and support, risk of physical injury is very low. We plan to train vigorously over the next 4 months and successfully summit in mid-June 2012.
In the past, several Mt Kilimanjaro fundraising campaigns have proven highly successful in garnering support for their projects.
